About the owner The factory is owned by Mr Chun Yan. He takes great pride in making the factory a great place to work. It is ISO certified and we were allowed to undertake confidential interviews with workers chosen freely, without any influence by the factory management. All workers said they were satisfied with their employment at the factory and that they have good relationships with their supervisors and managers who treat them with respect. How we found it We knew there aren’t many sustainable hair accessory suppliers out there so we set our sourcing team out in Hong Kong the difficult task of locating one. It took well over 18 months to do so. The process and way of working First the material is inspected for the colour and quality. The fabric is then cut by a sewing machine and given its ‘scrunch’. Then the natural rubber elastic is tied inside before being sewn up. A last round of quality inspection is made before packing in a compostable and biodegradable corn starch bag.
