Mobile cases faq

What should you do with your old phone case?

After years of loyal service and admiration from friends, it’s finally time to part ways with your old mobile case. It’s up to you to dispose of your phone case in the right way, so here are some ideas.

Recycle your old phone case! If possible, then recycling is a great option as the raw materials used to make the case can be used to make something else. However this isn’t always possible, so the next option is to donate or sell your old case (if you have taken good care of it, of course). If you are able to do, compost your old phone case and it can be returned back to nature safely.

What is the most eco-friendly phone case?

Most phone cases today are made with plastic sadly, so the best option is to avoid any case with plastic. These plastic cases are almost impossible to recycle and therefore are just sent to landfill.

Therefore going for cases which support a circular economy and are plastic-free are the best option. Our Agood cases are made 100% from linseed and compostable for iPhone and Samsung. Go for the stylish yet sustainable look.

How much should a phone case typically cost?

The average price of a phone case is €22-€46, however this is dependent on the materials used. Our prices fall in the middle of that average, however the majority of phone cases don’t consider the environmental cost. That’s why when you go for our mobile cases, it falls in the average price yet has little to no environmental cost.

What's the difference between biodegradable and compostable?

Knowing the difference can influence purchasing decisions. Which is better, a biodegradable product or one that is compostable? The short answer is that the compostable product is the better choice. A product marketed as natural and biodegradable - like plastic garbage bags made from sugar cane - may be neither; especially if it ends up in a landfill where pretty much nothing ever biodegrades. One way to define whether something is biodegradable is if after some metabolic or enzymatic processes, the molecular structure of that thing can break down. There is no limit on the length of the process or what’s left after completion. The time frame for biodegradation can last from several days to millions of years.

For a product to be termed “compostable” certain legal obligations have to be met. This is usually a recipe for the type of material. It dictates the duration of time needed to decompose and the specific conditions needed for decomposition to take place. One example is ASTM D6868, it’s the recipe that packaging that is designed to be composted (including plastic coated paper and board) should comply with if it wants to display that certification. Are our agood mobile case actually compostable?

Yes! When we designed our circular mobile cases we made sure that, if you don't want to send them back to be recycled, then they can be composted in your back garden and safely returned to the biosphere from which they came (they're made from plants, you know).

Can you recycle plastic phone cases?

Sadly, the absolute majority of phone cases are made with various types of plastic, these are then blended together which means they can’t actually be recycled or used again. Every year, around 1 billion plastic phone cases are sold, this is not including the total of plastic phone cases produced. Looking at the total amount of phone cases sold and as most plastic phone cases can’t be recycled easily, it creates a huge plastic pollution problem. To make this huge problem go away, plastic-free cases are the option to go for.
