In honor of World Environment day: agood company x Climeworks

To us, everyday is world environment day but since it is actually hosted here in Sweden this year, we decided to honour the day a little extra and have a special collaboration together with our partners Climeworks. Between 5-12th of June we are focusing on direct air capture with Climeworks. The good news is that every sale this weeks will remove 1kg of CO2 from the atmosphere!

You can purchase from a plethora of well-made and sustainable products and remove carbon from the atmosphere.

At Agood Company we believe that every decision counts. To make yours Agood one.

Why are we doing this?
This year marks 50 years since the first UN Conference on the Human Environment. In 1972, the Stockholm Conference led to the creation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and set the 5th of June as World Environment Day.

This year's theme is Only One Earth (the saem motto as the 1972 conference), showing people the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature by bringing transformative changes. The key to change is through policies and choices.

At Agood Company we believe that every decision counts. To make yours Agood one this week, your purchase will not only be conscious but also remove 1kg of CO2 from the atmosphere. We are however not encouraging mindless consumption, however we want to encourage others to think about your choices this week. Ensure that keep in mind there is Only One Earth and your choice will make an impact.

Who are Climeworks?

Climeworks was founded in 2009 with a mission to develop, build and operate direct air capture (DAC) technology. Essentially they remove CO₂ directly from the atmosphere and store it safely underground and reduce the harmful CO₂ in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Unless you are an engineer, Climeworks and their DAC technologies can seem a bit confusing (well we thought that at least!), so we will break it down for you.

So how does it work?

Air is drawn into a collector with a fan, and CO₂ is captured on a filter. To take out the CO₂, the collector is heated so the CO₂ is released and then it’s stored underground, permanently.

Why DAC?
The climate crisis isn’t getting any better, so more needs to be done and at a faster pace. DAC plants allow for CO₂ to be stored permanently underground and at a faster rate than planting trees. The benefits of DAC technologies are seen below on this Carbon Dioxide Removal comparison chart.

Why Climeworks'?

Climeworks’ technology is solely powered by renewable energy and uses much less water and requires much less land than other CO₂ removal solutions, making it a truly sustainable choice for reversing climate change.
